Tyre bulge

And not the one around my middle!
I've put a pair of 1.35 schwalbe kojaks on an old mtb and one has a bulge. It's more a thickening in section on both sides, narrow to wide to narrow is over about 300m of circumference and the bulge sticks out 2mm on one side and 3mm on the other. The moulding line on the periphery of the tyre moves out laterally about 3mm in the affacted section so it's really noticable when riding. It did this from the off so it's not as a result of a bump. Ithought it was the wheel and got the spoke key out, but the rim is true to within 1mm. I checked the fitting line and it is ok, but reseated the tyre anyway with the same result. It is pumped up to 6 bar, that is half a bar less than max, so it was not over pressurised. I'll be sending it back, but is this a common problem or have I been very unlucky?

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I had a tyre bulge like that and it turned out that it was splitting apart from the inside!
