Lots of people convert old mountain bikes into gravel bikes and I'd say hybrid vs gravel can be very similar but I guess its down to whether you want to go all the way to a full on road bike or actually something a tiny bit slower but more versatile. Lots of steel gravel bikes out there at retail and quite heavy. I suspect this Specialized would be significantly lighter than those once you lose the suspension fork.
