Tyre Help..

I need some tyres for my road bike.
Fitted on the bike at the moment are Giant PR2 wheels with PR3 tyres ( Durroguards)

Just looked and I have seen some Conti GP 4000 with tube deal but they said they are clinchers and I haven't got a clue what that means so I cant tell if they would fit.
I have seen some Schwalbe Durrano's as well which I like..
So what are clinchers and have I got them?

Clinchers are tyres which fit the rim with a bead, unlike tubulars, which are actually tubes and must be glued on.

About 99% of the tyres you see in shops will be clinchers.

Most people have clinchers, the only other option is tubes(tubular tyres) and they are glued on.

If you buy GP4000 tyres make sure they are GP4000s, the little "s" makes a difference.

Thumbs up from me for the Conti GP 4000S - the S is a different compound than the 4000, so worth knowing there is a difference between them.

Also consider Michelin Pro 3 or Pro 4, they are excellent tyres.

I used to run Schwalbe Ultremo ZX tyres which were very fast low rolling resistance but cut up very quickly and at around the £40 mark per tyre I binned them. To be fair they are racing tyres.

I now use Continental GatorHardShell tyres which are slightly heavier but I've yet to puncture them (please don't let that be me tempting fate!). I was getting fed up with getting a puncture every ride so switched to these and haven't looked back since nearly a year and thousands of miles later.

I have recently bought GP4000 folding tyres.

The ones with the s at the end are 2mph quicker!

They are the same if your tyres are black but the coloured ones dont have the same compound and roll a bit slower and wear a bit quicker according to conti.

The S version have the black chili compound. I was surprised how much better these tyres were than the standard ones that came with the bike. Better grip and lower rolling resistance. Cheapest upgrade possible.

Update..
I found the Conti 4000s one's and as you say they are the chili type which is good and they came with 5 tubes and when I put into the shopping basket the whole deal was £3 cheaper than advetised..

I found Wiggle selling the Black Chilli compound Grand Prix 4000s for sale at a 37% discount. I now have a pair

They do have the 2 tyres & 5 innertubes deal but I have loads of spare tubes but do take up the offers before they end.
