In 6,000 road miles I've only had two punctures: once when I hit a stone in the road at speed and burst my front inner tube and once on a sportive with a tack in the tyre. On both occasions a mini pump was enough to get me to the next place with a track pump.

Both with the pump as a back-up. I remove the tyre, find the sharp and remove it then fit a new tube, using the pump for the initial pre tyre fitting inflation and once the tyre is on use the CO2 to get it hard fast. Then at home I let the tyre down and re inflate with a track pump as CO2 leaches out of tubes far faster than air.

I hardly ever repair a tube but I do carry a patch, glue and the rest for the day when my spare tubes are used up and I get another puncture.

My hand pump only pumps to around 20psi. No being feeble but anything more it just doesn't go in! Thinking co2 might be better.

FWIW, My cheepo pump will get tp 40-60psi and the better one 60-80psi if I pump for ages (its not really about strength as I have none, but time ) Depending where I am and what tyre I often end up pumping till they are ridable rather than holding out for that bit more. For example last night I had a front p'ture 2 miles from home and I just pumped to circa 30psi to get me going and pumped up to 95psi on the track pump at home. If it had been a rear tyre or further from home I might have pumped more to avoid a pinch p'ture but pinch p'tures are rare for me, touch wood.
