Helped a mate with a tube change today............first time for many a year. We struggled a bit with the bog standard thin plastic levers which got me thinking...........are there any really good ones you could recommend ?
Otherwise, park tool plastic ones do the job. I use an old magnum ice cream stick to run round the rim to check for tube trappage after the tyre has been refitted
In my experience, plastic / nylon tyre levers are much of a muchness. I' ve bent budget ones and Park Tool ones getting new Schwalbe Marathon tyres on, so it would appear that if you want bombproof ones, go for metal BUT be VERY careful in using them as it isn't too difficult to damage an alloy rim with them - !
+1 to Park Tools ones, bombproof so far, I still have the 3 I bought after several years use, including M+'s, even on 18 inch wheels and on Vittoria Bastardo's(*)
(*) is what my Radonneur's should have been called, evil, evil things to fit.
Thanks for the tips and links, I have just ordered Park tool levers and puncture repair kit, i do have a Halfords bought kit but the levers snapped the first time I used them.
