Having had a puncture yest morn and spent 1 hr sorting out ...the main problem being I could not get the tyre (ultra gatorskin 23c) back on the wheel....I was wondering is there a substitute for park tyre levers? It's that last bit of tyre, it's murder trying to get on to the wheel, I had cut fingers and burst blisters by the time I got to work...it should not be this difficult

I realize that you can use metal levers but I presume they will spoil the rim of the wheel...is there a good substitute for the park levers...or must I just grin and bear it!!

Park tools levers are good imho. If you're struggling with those then maybe it's a matter of technique.

The michelin ones mentioned above are good too.

+1 to the above.
When you are putting the tyre back on the rim. Work the beads of the tyre into the centre of the rim, working your way round. That should give you some leeway for getting the tyre on.

The Schwalbe ones in the shape of their logo are EXCELLENT.

The get Brompton Greens on and off (lesser tyre levers snap, believe me).

Spa Cycles sell them.

I've got one of those Crank Bros ones, but luckily haven't needed to use it yet.

Part of it is down to the tyre/rim combination. There are certain brands of tyre and rim that don't go together. I've recently had problems with conti gp4000 and shimano wheels. There a real pita at home and I would probably be struggling if I had a flat out on the road.

yup. The 4Seasons are no easier.

Decathlon tyre levers. Spondicious.

Practice.

If you never change a tyre (often) and then come to do it at the side of the road - you are going to struggle.

I recommend one of these little beasties. They work and once you had a wee bit of practice they work exactly like suggested in this video.

I was on a CC ride recently where were were unfortunately visited by the fairies a few times. I had the lever with me. See here (from post 275) for what the other riders thought of it! :becool:

My speed lever is my knight in shining armour. Being a weedy girl I always struggle with normal tyre levers.
