This is very true. Once a tube of glue has been unsealed, the P'fairies sabotage the glue and remove it's contents. Then they wait in ambush on the road until you puncture. Then you find out that your patches are fine, but the glue has gone!
Indefinitely IME, I've never had to chuck any out, or had any fail. Rubber solution goes off, but I've used it when it's past its chucking out point, and had no problem with it.
I bought 100 patches of mike Dyason (Ozzo) remember him? at the Mildenhall Rally 2004 or 2005. Up until now they have been as good as new, and I've probably got 20 remaining!
