It's happened a number of times this evening.;)

A local who was interviewed by Radio Scotland was almost defending this action. It seems the event isn't popular with locals because it restricts access to places on the route.

A very small minority the vast majority are out cheering you on and are very appreciative of the extra trade it brings to the town.

Yeah, the national radio networks and TV reported it but I'm sure it only made the nationals because it gives ammunition to cycle haters or shows cycling as being an inconvenience rather than as a genuine recreation, sport or means of transport. Many bulletins I heard throughout the day BBC included didn't even mention the fact it was a charity ride in supprt of MacMillan cancer, they just gave the impression that it was more selfish cyclists racing taking over and closing the roads and that stopping it by scattering tacks/nails in the road was some sort of light hearted prank and no harm done ;).

For one day a f*cking year.

Jesus wept. This bloody country is getting to be a better advertisement for living in France by the day.

Refreshingly, the usual nutters are outnumbered by about 95 to 5 on the News website today !

Yes refreshing to see the nutters being outnumbered, but still enough to make me think there is a problem in that area of Scotland.

Its refreshing but I'm still concerned about those few nutters, they seem to think its only a Tom & Jerry moment, no as far as I'm concerned it was attempted murder.

Indeed. Seen a few comments along the lines of "so they have to fix some burst tyres, so what?" They really have no idea how dangerous this is, something that should be a concern to all of us.
