Last year I fitted two new tyres both are Marathon Kevlar 700x40, I notice that the rear tyre is wearing much faster than the front one, is this normal. This maybe obvious but it's the first time I have ever changed both tyres at the same time.

My bike is a Hybrid which is two years old.

Yes.

My back tyres wear about twice as fast.

Yes - rear tyres always wear quicker as they carry around 60% of the weight - more if you ride with panniers.

Dont be tempted to put the worn one on the front to even out the wear. A blow out on the back is less dangerous than one on the front.

When the back one is worn out put the new tyre on the front then put the old front one on the back. Also evens out the cost buying only one tyre at a time.
