Tyres for icy patches

Yes, these tyres are most definitely cheaper to buy in the summer months. Some unscrupulous online retailers are price gougers this time of year. Even the RRPs are eye watering. The size I'm after are asking £80 each!

One of my LBS employees was telling me that they bought a large stock for one particularly bad winter, as they were flying off the shelves, but then come spring the couldn't shift what was left of them, the following winter was mild, and they had to clear them out so were letting them go for peanuts the following spring. Worth a look again in late spring and summer if you can holdout. It's been a very mild winter so far, I don't doubt that there will be sellers dying to get rid of left over stock come spring.

Do you have rim brakes or discs? If the latter, you could try the cable tie thing* and report back on whether it works or not

* inflate tyres and then cable tie around the tyre and rim: repeat...a lot.
