Tyres will not sit on rims...............

I have recently brought a Viking pursuit 2013 , I rode it and at first thought I had got a buckled wheel straight away . when I removed the tyre the wheel ran true ????? I tried different tyres different inner tubes , removed the rubber protection strip but no joy the wheel still looked buckled. I took it to a bike mechanic and her said it was a defect in the wheel , the bead on the tyre would not sit in the chamber as the chamber was not correct. I have sent the wheels back today and hoping for a replacement.
Has anyone else experienced this problem ........?????

I have, but it was tyres with uneven beads, not the wheel rims. The tyres would unseat from the rims, resulting in an explosive tube puncture. Gave me quite a shock the first time it happened, as the puncture is very loud! I have no idea what the mechanic meant by 'chamber not correct', but perhaps the real experts on here can answer that for you?

I've seen the tube for the tire referred to in British specification as an air chamber.

Right my tyre dilemma is over , sent the wheels back and they got specalised tyres , compatable with hook bead rims whatever that means ! still all is running ok now ......
