So another visit from puncture fairy has led me to decide it is time for new tyres. I have 700c 35mm tyres right now. Will be buying marathon plus. But what size can I buy? Should I stick to 35's or can I go a little narrower?

Going to get some more tubes too.

I think you can but, it will depend on rim size, I don't know much about that size of wheel.
Tyres well what can I see my front hasn't had a puncture since new, 8,620 miles what can I say, only two on the rear in 5,500 and both of them from hitting stones causing pinch punctures, the new rear is on 2,020 without a puncture, I am trying to avoid the stones, I haven't bought a tube in nearly a year and half.
Tyres Gatorskins.

If I'd thought I could have brought one of my wheels in with me to work to give it a measure and I could have ordered some today. Halfords have got bugger all choice so was hoping to pick some up today but don't look like it.

I'll get my tyres off tonight and measure the rim properly then I can make a more informed decision about what ones I'll buy. Quite fancy those Gatorskins if they'll go on my rims too. I'm hoping mine are 17C ones - I'll have a wide range of choice to play with. My bike is a hybrid so I would have thought it would be more geared to thinner tyres (so I doubt they are 21C for example)

So I popped down to Halfords, they've got a pair of 35mm Marathon GreenGuards and that's about the only pair they've got.

I shall measure up tonight and find some tyres. The Plus'es look good but maybe a bit too compromising on ride? The gatorskins look a good bet too

Yeah I did wonder that. Should I bother getting narrow ones? They've got 35's there and I know they'll fit straight on :-)

I doubt you'd regret the Greenguard Marathons. Over 5000 trouble free miles on mine without the legendary difficulty with fitting like the M+ and they roll and grip quite nicely too.

+1.. Just got some Greenguards 32cc tyres myself which I'm fitting to my bike when I'm over to the UK for a long weekend this weekend.

If I remember on my Maddox 3.0 wheels (Specialized Crosstrail) I had some 37cc rubber and when I asked what size tyres the rims take I was told 28/38cc tyres so I think yours would be about the same.

Well I have now fitted my Marathon's and I am very pleased. The ride is very hard indeed but I find that somewhat a good feature.

Having the confidence of not getting a puncture is worth it in itself!
