Good solid old school reggae whats not to like. Mind you I saw The Selector featuring Pauline Black at "Off The Tracks" last year and prefer their Ska sound

Used to go to loads of gigs when I was younger, mainly NWOBHM stuff where most of the bands were competing for loudest. I think officially Saxon were supposed to be loudest, but personal experience it was one particular Whitesnake gig at Hammy Odeon.

It's probably why I have tinnitus.

I always enjoyed Present Arms in Dub... as for Red Red Wine... Neil diamond started doing a cover of UB40 doing a cover of Neil Diamond at his concerts... he even did a 'toasting' bit in the middle... it wasn't good.

You've been to a Neil Diamond concert?

The bland leading the band.

Was'nt it Ian Campbell (Scottish) or am I mistaken

Cracklin Rose and forever in blue jeans...... Two cracking songs and both favourites of mine on the Karaoke..... Forever in blue jeans I can be totally p*****d and still be in tune with it (honest you ask anyone in the pub:whistle:)
I've committed far too many atrocities to Diamond pi**ed up on the Karaoke. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of being in tune with any song ever.

Yes, I appreciate that loud sound can and does cause hearing problems (and this is an issue for classical musicians too, especially those who have to sit in front of the brass section...) but when you have electronically amplified music why not just turn the volume down a bit?

Earplugs don't mean you can't hear the music- just attenuate it to safe(r) levels. Many, many people have developed hearing problems from working or attending gigs and I'd rather not be one of them. And, well, some classical music is pretty loud, isn't it? Amps don't need to be involved- saw Kodo, the Japanese taiko troupe, in Poole a few weeks back, and they're as loud as anyone else I've seen, even before they got this little drum out....

Totally correct. I used to spend my Friday nights waiting to do the acoustic residency at an otherwise loud gig. You can actually hear both the music and conversation better if you get good ones.
