Ubuntu 12.04 / Unity / Gnome3 - Have you ditched it? And what do you use now?

As the title says.

I've been a Ubuntu user since version 6.xx.
I've tried, but can't get along with 12.04 on a desktop, where 'real' work needs doing. Even installing gnome-shell and reverting back is still a pain. As is trying to do basic customisations. It's just a mess.
Then there's the graphics drivers that constantly crash since 11.10.
I've also tried KDE - which is just as confusing.

I'm after something 'clean' and designed for use with a mouse.
Might try Mint with xfce?

xubuntu works nicely if you're used to ubuntu already and want to give xfce a whizz. I've been using it a few years now, no problems at all. Also, if you're thinking of changing to a more lightweight desktop, take a look at lxde. Personally I prefer xfce, but I think that's just down to familiarity.

I ditched 12.04 and went to Xubuntu. Not just because of Gnome/Unity but because I couldn't get my favoured CairoDock and Compiz working on my monitor.

I used CrunchBang on my net book and much prefer xfce so the jump to Xubuntu was not a problem.

xfce here too, but I got peed off with gnome long long ago. My desktop environment doesn't really look that different than it did 20 years ago

I'm still on 10.04 and its working fine, I take the attitude if it ain't broke don't try and fix it so I have no plans to upgrade yet.

I installed xubuntu (12.04) yesterday. It feels like being back with ubuntu of olde. Which is a good thing for me, especially in terms of productivity - whatever that means.
Unfortunately I have to keep up with new releases for both hardware and software reasons.
