As we near the end of the current three year cycle, it's getting a bit hot for the teams near the relegation/promotion spots.

Intermarche currently occupy the last place 18th spot, but the potential merger with Lotto in 12th means effective cut-off may be 19th place instead.
That's currently held by Cofidis, but a very strong Uno-X team are only a couple of hundred points behind them, and are ranked 10th this year so far against Cofidis's 20th.

Uno-X manager Thor Hushovd is currently advising his riders (mostly Norwegian, and the vast majority of Norwegian riders in the pro peloton) to avoid this years worlds and focus on other races - the worlds being "too hard" and not an effective way of gathering points.

Arkea B&B Hotels look certain to drop, though they're by no means certain to even have a team as both sponsors end their agreements this season

Intermarché have been even more anonymous than usual this year

They weren't anonymous last year though. Girmay took three stages and the green jersey at the Tour. Problem is he's about all they've got and he's having a season to forget.

Apart from Bini in the tour they were decidedly meh last year. And as you say Bini hasn't really shone this year.

Mind you, I chose them as "my" team when they were hapless wildcards and/or a showcase for the sparkling talent of Guillaume Martin. So I can't really complain.

https://inrng.com/2025/08/world-tour-relegation-august/ has lots more pretty charts and graphs.

They reckon Arkea's men's team is toast unless someone fancies Vauquelin's points, if they're enough to secure the team a TdF invitation next year.

The Cofidis/Uno-X battle combined with the Lotto/Intermarché will-they-won't-they merger saga could add a bit of spice to the remaining races for these teams not so often followed by the TV shows. There are a few permutations there for who wins and loses.

Inrng also points out there could be a Cofidis/Q36.5 battle for the second TdF 2025-points invitation if Cofidis lose their promotion battle, Arkea fold and Lotto/Intermarché merge. Q36.5 are 440 points behind Cofidis in this season's contest, but Pidcock could go hunting at the Vuelta and take Q36.5 to the Tour alongside Tudor.

I always find this subject baffling. I've just read the inrng article. I think, instead of trying to understand it, I'll just ignore it and see what happens.

They've definitely been riding like their wheels are cubes this season
