What is the correct response to a wild fire risk alert ? 🤔

Apparently, don't use disposable barbecues, light fireworks, drop burning cigarette ends etc!

I thought that was a strange use of the alert system. OK if there was immediate danger at a district level but I would have thought media was a better outlet for general warnings. It would also have been good to put advanced warning of the alert via the news channels so enough folk would know what was happening and help those who don’t.

Thanks for the heads-up. The first I thing I ever do when I get a new phone is disable that sh**e so I never knew.

I didn't think you could disable those alerts. I though tat was the main point of how they are delivered.

Not much point in an emergency alert if it's announced in advance. Hopefully it's hit the sort of idiots that take a BBQ on to tinder dry moorland to watch the eclipse. We have some unbelievably stupid people in this country.

I would argue that with significant areas of Europe on fire, 19 houses destroyed in Stourbridge, widespread crop failures there is every reason to send out an alert.

It might wake people up to the danger we face.

Don't do anything that might cause one. No disposable bBQs, firpits, garden incinerators, firworks, or anything else that could apark a fire.

And they have just repeated them both.

Immediately move to Scotland, where a heatwave only means that our permanent rain gets warmer.
We did get fires in the woods this summer, but they weren't "wild" they were man made.

We have 5 phones in my household. The first one to go off and it was like what the hell. A combination of parent, children and work phones.

It quickly became a game of trying to shut the darn alarms off when they went off as fast as possible. I don’t mind getting an alert but I think the siren sounds are unnecessary.

The mobile mast system near me also isn’t set up properly as two of the phones have received the alert a dozen times now. We’ve put those phones onto airplane mode to stop it.

As soon as you stop the alert it seems to disappear from your phone which seems stupid, as the first instance is to stop the beedin noise
