Just waiting for LBS to open and give them a call, for a quote, it has to be cheaper than 15 quid as that's how much a new hanger costs

Just for reference the LBS fixed Mrs SG's hanger for free. Not sure if they'd do the same for a bloke though

Well we rode up to our LBS and its closed today............but the good news is, after the cable was refitted and the gears indexed AGAIN the problem has gone, absolutely no noise from any of the 20 gears, climbing hills or on the flat.............problem solved

Holy thread resurrection, my new Raleigh I got was a bit crap with the gear changes as well, first of all wheel was not quite right in the drop outs, a wee bit of filing fixed that, hence the indexing was out a tad, lots of ghost shifting etc. Had it back to the LBS who indexed at again but I still wasn`t happy. In the end I decided to do it myself. Just set it all up from scratch and now its as sweet as a nut.

Its been perfect since I refitted the cable and re indexed............no problem.
