I don't know, never having used it I need to try it out first. I doubt I could afford to go for the Dura-Ace Di2 So it would have to be Ultegra. But the Ultegra Di2 bikes I've seen have a bulky battery strapped to the frame which spoils the lines somewhat. Whereas normal manual Dura-Ace is the same price as Ultegra Di2, and is the top spec in Shimano hierarchy.

As previously stated you can move the battery to the inside of the frame, its not difficult to do, its slightly more challenging for Ultegra but not a major problem. When you do this it leaves you with unwanted original charger, battery bottle cage mount, loom section etc. These can be sold and generally make enough money to negate the majority of costs of the custom components. (depending upon how you do it)
If you do not want to do the conversion yourself, there are a number of companies offering custom plug and play battery conversions for Dura-Ace and Ultegra Di2 such as. (you can always change the battery at a later date)

I want the bike to be light for club runs and comfortable for nice sunny day long rides & I want it to last until I can't cycle anymore. I doubt I will get the chance to spend this amount on a bike again. Titanium seems to be ticking all the boxes at the moment, I would love a carbon bike but from a longevity point of view Ti seems to get the upper hand.

Yes I know, this will be my 6th bike....

See you ve answered your own question ^_^ This is what you need anything else is made of cheese !http://www.litespeed.com/bike.asp?content=Archon-Ti

I AM IN NO WAY BIASED

Di2 will stay around in the same way as Garmin H/R monitors and power meters. Some will use it, most won't. Disc brakes on road bikes ! Whatever next ?

For me simple
Any Trek Project One bike, then I can get a paint scheme I want and I can also have my name on the bike ! Thats all I want,
Carbon, the choice is carbon, I would go carbon, did I mention I would go carbon? Yes i think carbon would be my choice!!!!!
I have seen Titanium frames, they look dull.
No Di anything either, just another thing to have to charge up ....

Keep your old bike and train twice as hard - it's 10x more rewarding than something that will be out of date in three years.

Oh yes. PS I've already got my 'bike for life' anyway - had it 20 years already.

Sorry, I think it's Planet X they supplied.
Some one will be along to confirm, Teef definitely has a Lynsky Planet X
Lynsky did supply Planet X but then they changed to using Van Nic frames. Mine's a Van Nic frame. I went for Ti for the comfort and the idea that the frame should last out my lifetime or at least be repairable. I got the Planet X with SRAM Red that was mentioned earlier and I must say I've no complaints whatsoever.

All I'd add to the conversation is that whatever you go for, for that money get it custom fitted to you
