What everyone is forgetting though is unless it's on Strava it never happened 😂.

I'm on as a subscriber although not sure why now. I may well can the subscription and just use free app. It is useful for recording rides and tracking progress etc although other programs can do that.
There is the social element of following friends etc but the rabid competitiveness of some is frankly bizarre.

One slightly depressing thing is it shows how your speed decreases with time.
I had a ride yesterday, felt good and went up a few steep climbs with a decent tailwind. I idly thought to myself "those must be in my top 3 attempts". Not a hope, significantly slower than 10 years ago.
Oh well.

Edit: I suppose I can though console myself that in my age group I'm in top 3 of pretty much every segment. Meaningless though of course!
Alternatively take my view. A couple of weeks ago we rode Jeffrey Hill, a fierce local climb. When I got home I decided to look back at my previous times. To my surprise I hadn't climbed it for six years. After two years of limited riding through family situation and post major RTC I was very pleased I was only six minutes slower. Lost a minute a year between 65 and 71.......I'll take that given my last two years.

Could you explain this please? I have a strong opinions on the current US president and the government. There is very little I can to demonstrate my objections to the fascist regime Trump wishes to establish. Boycotting American products is one. I take the trouble to tell those companies why in the hope they can bring influence to bear. I've discussed this with friends who live in the States, they're grateful for such actions.

It seems to me you should explain your appalling attitude towards others based on nothing more than a change in Strava behaviour. Take a look at this from the other side.

No I agree you have a right to exercise those views & good on you. I’m not being harsh on anyone in particular, just observations of late many have gone into private mode. I now know one had a new child & one split with the wife. It’s just interesting psychology, no vitriol to anyone.

My rides are uploaded to (free) Strava but on 100% privacy. Reasons for going to Strava (for me):

1. I like Veloviewer (the monthly "wheel" presentation I find great and it only takes data from Strava

2. I log different activities to Apple Health (for private record) and it got very messy when some activities went Garmin via Strava to Apple Health, others (not recorded on Garmin) Polar Flow then into Apple Health. Easiest to have Garmin & Polar each upload activities recorded on them to Strava which then loads into Apple Health. As soon as Garmin have access to Apple Health they start adding all sorts of rubbish eg estimates pulled out of nowhere about eg calories used for outside recorded activities (from no input to anything Garmin).
