I'd give it up matey. You don't know that then inside of the other tubes is significantly netter than the stays.

If you like the lugs how about salvaging them for a new frame build?

I've been thinking about that too, but the truth is, i'm only doing it because I hate to see stuff wasted.

after talking to Lee Cooper who explained the chroming process, its likely that the stays are knackered because they weren't blown out fully when originally fitted and the left over acid has eaten through the stays.

i'm in no rush with it so will bide my time for now.

I agree Totally

I'll have a look in the spares box to build it dry to see how it fits then make a decision.

After seeing the roux etape 150 for cheap, I may just go that way as it's a tourer that's missing from the shed
