That would really, really annoy me, what a piece of sh1t, I think they forget its a person riding the bike, someone that may actually be ok, someone that has a life, friends, kids, partners etc, i suspec that they see as a bit of fun, something vulnerable they can torture a bit in the absence of any Cats or Dogs to launch off a tall building.

Why they feel the need to spoil somebody elses day so much I dont know, I think its like has been said, sad empty lives, resentment and low IQ, plus being so much faster in having an engine they can get away quickly like in no other circumstance, if they were on foot they couldnt get away with it so they dont.

A rear view mirror may help here, when you hear a car or van you can glance and see if anyone is slowing down and preparing an attack and possibly prepare.

If I get caught like this I really hope they get snarled by traffic, I would feel justified in pretty much any act of reattaliation I see fit.

Never had anything thrown - only once had some git lean out of a back window of a car and try and hit me - I was somewhat shocked - he missed, but didn't do anything as I was on my best bike, in road shoes, and there were 4 of them.

God knows what I'd do if I was in a built up area and could catch some idiot like this.......and I was in SPD's - the car would be sporting a few more dents and the 'culprit' may get a seeing too....

Calmed down now, I'd read about this sort of thing but still got me totally by surprise. Still puzzled, the gulf in attitudes between myself and someone that would do this is so vast, we're almost a different species. I didn't actually find it humiliating, when the anger wore off I felt sorry for the perpetrator. In an encompassing, how sad is his life, type way, still wouldn't trust myself to meet him face to face though:biggrin:

Turned out to be my fastest run home yet, so not all bad, day off bike today, letting the train take the strain.

Some local kids were playing "kick the football across the main road" last week and it hit me on the head. I was furious with them but I think my incandescence was paled by my orange helmet, which amused them. I got to the ball first - having struggled like a clumsy clown - and I was going to keep it, but they all surrounded me trying to get it when one of them threw a bin bag (that was next to a public bin) at me which made me drop the ball.

A car in the outside lane opened the window and shouted, at me , "you can't leave that there" about the bin bag which was had bounced on the road in front of their car.

I love how car drivers will only get involved to tell other people to do something, and even then, only if they can't drive around the obstruction.

One road of commute I have nicknamed "Bomb Alley" as it is the only place I have had things thrown at me which include AA batteries, a football and fireworks however one good thing about the credit crunch is firework month last year was incident free.

Never had anything thrown at me thankfully. A group of kids did shine a laserpen at me once though. They ran off when I stopped and turned round. ;)

Never mind the rear-view mirrors. Ever since the incident on Saturday I now employ a support vehcle to follow me on my commute and keep a sharp eye out for persons likely to wish me harm....
