A couple of months or so ago I brought a couple of folding bikes for me and my wife ( Bit of a fail as Mrs Badger finds it impossible to use) as I needed to fold , t them to get them inside my small car. First mod was a longer sea tube, then a sprung seat, I wasn't sure about this having never used one and then found I could not set the seat back as far as I wanted but found this helped put me over the pedals better rather than feeling the pedals were in front of me ( a happy miss calculation
. I then fitted bar ends and found the bike on the road to be exactly what was needed but as it was fitted with high pressure slick tyres it was a death trap on local country roads and tracks as any gravel or loose mud would cause it to change direction uncontrollably. I then tried some BMX tyres which were wider than listed and were to tall to clear the brakes
. They were Orange so the Grandson happily accepted them ! Next some slimmer 20 X 1.75 MTB tyres were tried and wow it made a hell of a difference to the ride quality ( much reduced buzz through the bars ) Made it possible to climb on loose gravel as well as actually going in the direction I was steering ! It is now exactly what I wanted and can cope with multiple uses
