Language question:
2 rows of terraced houses back to back. Between back gardens or yards, there is a paved passage, parallel to the roads, often wide enough for a car, often cobbled.
What are they called in your neck of the woods?

Well....in the vernacular of my home region they are called 'S**t lanes' as in the past all sorts of rubbish as well as 'effluent' would find their way into them.

Not sure what the 'posh' name for them is, though.

Rear entries, often abbreviated to entries. The slightly more formal description would be rear passageway.
