Yes it's true! The husband and I are having a baby!!! We believe it's a boy (from the scan) and he is due at the end of November. Totally appreciate that not everyone thinks having a baby is particularly exciting and take that on board...but we're excited!

Please don't anyone tell us how much hard work it is. We know it will be but are lounging in blissful ignorance, and I'm planning next summer's maternity leave, pedalling along leafy sunny lanes with the baby in his shiny new cycle trailer. Don't burst my bubble, anyone!!

If anyone's selling a baby trailer, please think of me!!! Off to the York cycle show soon to hopefully find a second hand one.

Congratualations... its certainly a whole new way of life... how does this fit in with trying to loose weight to fit into a bridesmaids dress?

Hard work? I suppose so (I've not had any, but I have one nephew) but as far as I can see the rewards far outweigh the effort. Just hearing about Oli's latest achievements (he's nearly 2) and seeing the change in him each time I visit has been fascinating enough for me - it must be fantastic for his mum and dad... Looking at pictures of him as little baby, and then on Sunday, running and talking and stuffing his face with cake (it was his christening after all), it's amazing seing him grow up. I've gone all soppy now, thinking about it.

Summerdays...believe it or not, my lovely friend still wants me to be a bridesmaid so I shall be waddling down the aisle with her at the start of August in a special maternity BM dress. Nice, eh.

A friend of mine married earlier this year and one of her bridesmaids was having very fluctuating weight due to thyroid problems, so they bought several sizes of dress and made sure that the date of return was about a week before the wedding. So I'm sure it will be fine.

It's about 8 weeks time. I've already got a bit of a bump so should have a decent sized bump by then. I'm nearly 16 weeks and I'll be 24 on the day.

Many thanks for the kind words ref my chunkiness. I'm feeling slightly fat at present, so they're much appreciated. It's quite hard to get used to not looking like me. I'm not complaining, it'll just take a while to get my head round it.

everyone i know with kids happily says its all worth it and that any sleepless nights etc (i know someone who's had hardly any sleepless nights!) are out weighed by the great times they have
