I just got this e-mail with the ^ ^ ^ above subject (???? are mine).
Dear Customer,

There is an Important update on your loan account.

Please click here to continue

Failure to comply might lead to payments delay.
Wonga.

I don't have a Wonga account.
I don't want a loan from Wonga or anyone else.
What is going on?

Do I just delete and ignore or should I be worried someone is using my ID for a loan? There is no unsubscribe option. What I have quoted (in blue) is the total of the body of the e-mail.

They send them out to every email they can get their hands on, hoping that some poor person who receives it and does have a Wonga account and doesn't realise its fake will click the link and give their details to an untrustworthy Nigerian gentleman. ;)

and one of these will eventually appear to be from a bank you have got an account with. I don't think I've EVER received a genuine contact from a bank this way. I treat 100% as fake.

So obvious scam, Dear Customer, followed by a threat of loss of service. Just bin and wait for the next one, I get a couple of similar ones each week.

In hotmail there's a 'mark as phishing scam' option which reports the email to somebody.

Don't know if it does any good, but I use it.

Even if you DID have a Wonga account (or a Barclays account for a Barclays message, etc, etc) DO NOT, EVER click on a link in such an email. If you think there's a chance it may be genuine, telephone your bank, or contact them through their normal website.
