The commuter tank has now lost its gears and is now single speed. Planet X came to the rescue with the goodies including the conversion kit for the rear sprocket, On-one chain tensioner, Stronglight chainset and KMC chain. Everything went together well and hopefully Gould give good service.

I like it. Anything that extends the life of a commuter is good news in my book. I've contemplated single speed several times but my commute (particularly winter routes) would be problematic for me.

To be honest I was getting fed up with changing components through wear and tear when I know the single speed setup would be more robust from the experience of my Boardman fixie is anything to go by. It still has the freewheel Which May change if I decide to change the rear wheel for a fixed hub setup
