Destroyed a BB, compelled myself to regrease the hubs AND clean the bike god knows how many times and change chainsets due to the 'worn' BB

Moral of story:

WATER sucks*: BIGTIME !

*especially in freezing downpours

Just wait til you ride through a proper winter and see what happens then!

So far the wet has only dampened and destroyed the BB on my hybrid. Tools arrived today to strip down tonight. Otherwise it's been mild, if a little wet:rolleyes: Mind you, I'm only social cycling ATM, and managed a mere 175 miles in January.

Ive had to replace, wheels, cassette, chain, headset, cables....its costing a bomb im seriously considering a turbo trainer but love the outdoors too much!

A quick tip for the headset, ive been using a Lizardskin headset cover, needs a little stretch to get around mine but its stopped all the crud and water getting to it.

I replaced a GXP bottom bracket but it had done over 12000 miles so was probably due anyway, and I had a wheel bearing go but that had done about 7000 miles and the reviews said they were made of cheese so I can't grumble too much.
I found previous winters far worse on the drivetrain when the roads had been gritted, the combination of salt and water after frosts is a nightmare.

Been far too windy for my liking.

We have a brook running underneath our house and so far..... touch wood.... we've only heard the tumbling boulders in the stream bed once, which happens when it gets really high. Lancashire, by the way.
