I have a similar thing every year. As winter approaches I stop cycling outside and go to the gym where I can do 45 minute spinning classes. Then as spring comes along I head out onto the roads again. However, for the initial few weeks in the spring my body starts complaining at about the 1 hour mark, since I have spent the last 4-5 months stopping at 45 mins. 2-3 weeks later its all back to normal where I can just keep going forever as long as I have something to eat every 25 miles or so.

Not ridden out since late summer 2023.As you know Lymphoma cancer then vertigo, and finally when i was ready father in law came to live with us.oh boy what that has done, anyway end of this Feb got the turbo out,100 miles in five weeks, each session easier and boy do i love it.So i was going to try with my two best mates a little 25 mile outing, they were going to chaperone me,plus coffee and bacon.Mrs P squashed that,i can't look after dad on my own, if you have an accident no bet you couldn't it would knack your outings out.So i have to say nothing doing yet,but its coming May time i think,i will get the miles in on the turbo for now.

After some sort of flu-like bug that left my with knees made of glass for late Feb and early March, only today I'm starting to get back within ~10% of my 5min VO2 max numbers from early Feb.

But things are improving, I'm starting to compete a little bit in the Zwift Insider Tiny Races and stage 6 TT for Zwift Games went better than expected earlier this week, onwards and upwards... Just in time for improved weather outdoors for the coming week!
