Does anyone know if this would work ok?

I've got a 48/38/28t crankset on my mtb from when I was using it to commute but I'm thinking of putting the 42/26/22t back on as it's going back to off road use. The problem is I have changed the front derailleur to a 48t. Does anyone know if the derailleur will work properly with the smaller set?

Shifting might not be quite as good but it will still work OK. You will probably get the best out of it by moving the shifter down a few mm.

Yeah - just reposition the mech so it has the same clearance (a few mm) above the 42 it had over the 48.
