Using a bike cam on your commute..?

I won't get one, as I'll most probably lose interest and forget to charge it.
The above mentioned use for taking pictures without having to search for the mobile appeals though.

Yes, charging is a problem, especially as internal batteries tend to have limited life and poor charging circuits (because who ever chooses a camera based on its charging circuit). External batteries are better but then you've another thing to mount on the bike.

It's good for pictures but they are usually lower resolution than dedicated or phone cameras.

Thought about it but can't quite be bothered...

There's just been a couple of incidents over the years I've not really been able to make sense when I replay them in my head and some camera footage might have been nice. That said it could have been no use whatsoever.

Like buying anything new cba to enter into the whole researching options palava and it seems like a faff once you're up and running anyhow.

Most of my commute is unlit country lanes, i might get a picture of tail lights going into the distance but thats about it.

Front and rear bike mounted cams on the regular commuter. I like messing about with gadgets and thought they'd be useful purely for evidence. I have uploaded maybe 3 pieces of footage in 4 years, but usually just wipe when the card fills up.
I have twice offered footage to cyclists who have have come off in front of me after an incident with a vehicle, but neither took up the offer.
If anything I find them a calming force as I feel if there is a serious incident and on reviewing the footage the authorities see any transgressions it would be used against me.
I don't use them on leisure rides.

I don't have one but if I did, then I'd prefer to have two (front and rear). But it's extra stuff to carry the bike, extra stuff to charge etc.

I prefer the simplicity of not having it.

I'm considering one, but just for new trails and routes, or for showing others ride cues and such. But I'm fortunate in having fairly well behaved drivers in my area. Although a retired area schools superintendent got mad at a cyclist and ran him off the road some time back. There's some role modeling for you.

That reminds me: as some of you may have seen in other topics, I do use it to record interesting cycling infrastructure (both good and bad) because the places I ride most at the moment (Lynn, Cambridge, London and Norwich) do all have very different approaches... but I rarely post London videos as it seems rides of most new stuff gets uploaded before I've tried it. More camera users there?
