Indeed AI's translation abilities are good. As has something like DeepL been for a while. I'm indeed surprised how sensitive to context modern (computer) translation is. It was only intended as an anolgy on my part (and one can always critique the analogy and miss its intention)

I'm not a computer scientist, much less an AI expert. For me to understand such lofty subjects, I scaffold my learning around the building blocks I have. That enables me to take things further should I need.

I was a (very) small part of the Go/Baduk/Weiqi community that grew AI up.
Neural networks were a sea change from pattern recognition. Some bots do have tweaked parameters with a bit of databasis, but I think they're more interesting, and intelligent, without.

I come from a perspective that intelligence is itself desirable.

In the famous Python (Monty) words,
'And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space 'cause there's b-all down here on Earth.'
