Using Wood's valve

The place I volunteer at have inherited some unicycles, which need doing up a bit. I had a quick glance at them yesterday, but will have a proper look this afternoon. One of the things I have noticed though is that on first glance is that the tyre valve seems to be of a wood's type. Not having used this type of valve before, I am wondering about how compatible it would be with the presta attachment on my track pump.

They usually fit ok unless they are really old tubes in which case they aren't very long to get a good seal on.
