I've been offered a Spesh Tricross - it's the 24-speed model and I think it's 2008 / 2009 2011 (I've re-checked). The gears look to be Shimano 2300.

The bike's been in my work's bike cage for a year but was used until then. It looks OK but has been stored so the chain's rusty with some other bits showing rust. Everything else seems alright. Non-disc model but with recent tyres/brakes/etc.

Any ideas on the value of this?

I've been offered it for £175. Should I accept?

BUY IT!

Im a 56 on a Roubaix and secteur. My Tricross was also a 56. I could ride Iit on the road fine, but it I were to have off road aspirations then I would have needed the 54 to be able to muscle it round a bit more.

Might be worth trying for size if you plan on keeping it, but at that price with a little tlc you should be quids in to sell it on to fund something else.

@PaulSecteur - how different are a Secteur and Tricross?

I'm asking because I'm on a Medium 54cm Secteur at 5' 9" and the Tricross is a 56cm Large.

If all else fails I'll probably sell it on as I'm minus a proper commuter and short of 'bike' funds. Mind you, I'm currently commuting on a 57cm Decathlon and coping.

@DCLane

Im 5`11. I think the problem you will have is the length of the top tube, you will be stretching for the bars. You will probably be OK for the road, but you will struggle to be able to pull the bike up to get the front wheel over bumps. I believe the newer tricross bikes have a sloping top tube and are comparable to the allez/secteur/Roubaix, but the older ones have a more horizontal to tube so BB to toptube scales the rest of the frame up.

That said, try it.

As to ride quality... the secteur is a nicer ride on the road, even if the triross has larger tyres at a lower pressure. The frame is just so much plusher.
The tricross is great for tow paths and light off road. I have lost count of how many times mine took me into the centre of Birmingham 12 miles away via the canal. I could get to Costa quicker than going in a car, parking up and walking.

@DCLane You might be in luck.

Have a look at these side on shots, you can see the tope tube is more sloped on the later one, but not to the same extent as a secteur.

Now you have said it is a 2011 model I wish to retract my statement about biting their hand off.

For the 2011 frame at £175 I'd bite my own hand off.

I'll show pics before and after next week. But ... I've bought it at £175 and it is the 2011 model. ^_^

Also, rubbing off the dirt to check the rust which I thought was rust all over it showed that it was mud and grime covered by 18 months of dust. There doesn't seem to be a mark on it apart from the rusted chain. I did put the dirt back just in case someone else offered more

Basically it's been used for a 3 mile each-way commute for 6-12 months, then left in my work's bike cage for 12-18 months due to a change in circumstances.

So ... thanks to @Supersuperleeds , @Trembler49 and @PaulSecteur :hugs:

Photos when it's home next Wednesday with a new chain, etc.

Final update for @Supersuperleeds , @Trembler49 , @PaulSecteur and others:

Tricross as bought: dusty, muddy and dirty from being stored in my work's bike cage for 18 months, including rusty chain. Note the brake cable taped along the top tube  and it had all sorts of brackets on.

Tricross now: new chain, cable properly replaced, thorough clean and lubricate. It's all fine; just dirt and grime covered by dust. Only one paint chip which has now been repaired. Prepped for commuter duty next week.

I'm pleased with this - and I think it's a bargain buy.
