A bloke in our Wednesday cycling group turned up last week with a Van Nicholas titanium frame bike. He said he bought it from the club's chat forum when another member was selling it for £375. If i remember it had a Shimano Ultegra groupset. Why was it sold for such a low price?

Wait until Wednesday and find out by asking him if he knows.

According to others, he does this quite a lot. Maybe it's my turn next when he decides to throw out his old stuff?
There are people out there who sell just for the sake of getting rid of stuff at a price they reckon will sell quickly, make them a few quid for their bank account and the satisfaction that someone got a decent deal and enjoy the bike. Not all the world is out to screw people over or maximise what they think they can get.

That sounds like me when i gave away quite few expensive shirts that didn't fit anymore, to friends. Most ended up on flea bay...the bastards!

My dad gave his friend his old Lancia Fulvia HF (it was the worst rusted heap imaginable) and he spent two years restoring into a thing of beauty. His (the restorer's) friend then spent six months pestering (eventually successfully) him to sell it to him for £15k, and sold it for nearly £30k a week later. They never spoke again.

And it only cost him £40k to restore and all

Peoples sheds are often clogged up with rusted decaying bikes that could have been passed on to a new owner once but weren't because the owners wanted top dollar for them.
