Van Nicholas Yukon

After a lot of research and a discussion with Halfords I am close to deciding that the Yukon could be the bike for me. I like an upright position due to an old back injury, so generally would have the handlebar tops level with the top of saddle. Does anyone know if this normally supplied with the steering tube uncut. I am going to check the geometry against my galaxy, to check size and make sure it will be similar as I find this so comfortable. Anything else to consider?
Thanks Tim

I cannot respond to yr precise qn but earlier this yr I bought a Yukon (not new exactly but built up from new end of range items). I feel v comfortable with this ti bike on cycle paths and on trains. I prefer to shelter my c/f stealth machine from such rough activities! Have no fears.

I've got an old Galaxy and a Yukon (which you've seen on the FNRttC!). The front fork is Van Nicholas branded. Mine's second hand, so I can't say whether the steerer tube's been cut down but its length is 26 cm (on a 56 cm Yukon). I would expect that the fork would be supplied to the bike shop with an uncut steerer tube.

To throw a spanner into the works, have you considered the Sabbath September? Its geometry is very similar to the Yukon: in fact the geometry of the 54 cm September differs by only a couple of mm from my Yukon, so it should ride very similarly. I was going to get one myself before I spotted my Yukon for sale...

I will try and get a quote for both from Halfords (I'm getting it on their scheme) Van Nic is in their catalogue, so I will get £150 of accesories included for free

If the September's not available, I doubt you'd regret getting the Yukon. It's a great bike. Somewhat faster and much more responsive than my old Galaxy, but easily as comfortable.

If you're looking for a Van Nicholas bike with a similar geometry to your Galaxy, I'd have though the Amazon would be the better choice.

Been looking at Yukon for my next bike.
Very nice they are too. Was on a Kent ride couple of weeks back and met a chap who had one.
He let me have a good old feel/fondle of the bike. Very nice indeed.

About titanium bike, in Uk there is Burls Bicycles, frame is total custom, and cost is accesible respect many titanium frame.
I tried Burls frame last year becuase Mr Burls now is my big friend, but I can confirm that quality is good. I tried road and time trial bike (I am lucky Mr Burls bike size is approx similar me  )

You can specify ‘uncut’ steerer, although normally not more than 30mm spacers are recommended. 30mm plus a stem flipped to the raised angle on the correct sized frame should achieve a lever bar and saddle position.
