Nice!

That model was ~£2300 when I was looking at the Van Rysel ebikes in Jan/Feb, I was about to pull trigger on the 105 2x11 cabled for ~£1900 when I spotted the GT eGrade Bolts at PaulsCycles and RMCycles.

I was worried when looking at this 1x12, that the lowest gear was 42/44, while my Bolt's is 30/34. But I'm using the 30T ring far less than I expected to, because it's usually fine simply selecting turbo that I've set to max 250W.
It actually made me wonder if the 1x trend began when ebikes became more mainstream.

I don't fully understand 1x - but it's my first e bike after a heart attack in June .

Worse case scenario - I have a brand spanking 105 di2 gruppo installed on my dolan - which I can swap over .

Obviously it's not quite the bargain you had with GT - but it's the cheapest reasonable ebike I could find .

..great looking bike, I am sure you will love it!!...had my e bike for 5 years and really like it. If it blew up tomorrow, it is the one thing I would just go out and buy another one. Did ttry going back to a "manual" briefly last last year but gave up. 12 miles was about my limit on a non powered bike, but regularly do 30+ miles now...even after a long Winter lay-off!!

Yup
I did try hiring a normal bike on holiday last year and I was pleased about how well I rode

rode nearly as far as my normal ride on my ebike without any problems

but I know that the extra range after a 3 week layoff in winter due to weather would mean that I can go to the places that make it worth while directly out of the door

which makes me more likely to go out

I don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but in the Mahle app "MySmartBike" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mahle.sbs&hl=en_GB you can choose three different assist presets or customise the the motor output for the three levels (white on iWOC button on toptube is no assist)...
Level 1 is a % of 100W max
Level 2 is a % of 175W max
Level 3 is a % of 250W max

Personally, when ok (but with long covid fitness/stamina issues) I usually use 75/80/100% respectively, when I'm not feeling so good (long covid worse or had a recent infection) I'm much more likely to use approx 100/85/100% respectively.

There's a few other useful tweaks on the app, such as I turned off the light circuit as my Bolt didn't come with integrated lights, plus I set assist to start in level 1 rather than last mode used.

There's an app you can use like recording a ride on your mobile on the Strava app, with a few extras like +/- buttons for assist level. Maybe it was my old Xiaomi Mi A2 mobile from '19, but I tried it once with my turbo mobile holder for a short outdoor test, the battery ran down super quick! Ever since I've just used my Lezyne Super Pro gps computer or my ~£40 Xioami 5 Lite smartwatch which has an excellent gps lock , bothh of which don't have any ebike pairing.

Mahle do a Pulsar One gps computer, but I can't justify ~£90 for another gps computer that gives a few functions like +/- assist buttons, with lots of other modern gps computer features missing.

Nice to have more specific data about how the different assist levels work

most just say "x is higher than y"

our Carrera crosscity manual comes with a chart that showed exactly how it works in each mode

which is nice to see
but my Bosch doesn;t seem to think you need that sort of thing!

Nice bike! The X35+ is getting long in the tooth now but against that it's a proven platform. I've no data but it seems to be quite reliable generally. Certainly my Gain is getting on 3 years now and has given little or no trouble. The only issue I can remember was either the app or the bike's controller losing the odometer data, i.e. the total distance travelled. I don't know if that data was fully reset in the bike itself or it's still there, but in the end it didn't affect the bike's performance in any way so I never did anything about it.

Done a few rides now. And I like it. The sram 1x is a real surprise - thought it would feel a bit low end coming from ultegra + 105 di2 - but not a bit - it shifts like a dream.

The downside is the supplied decathlon app - I really think they would have been better off not bothering rather than this error strewn beta testa pile of junk. The supplied BC900 computer is little better - and the quick start user guide is sparse in the extreme. I spent a lot of time of ribble forums as they use the same motor - a steeper learning curve than I thought .

V available ebikes it seems well worth £2k - granted it's not a powerful motor - but it takes the edge of my heart rate which gives me confidence to ride.

The iwoc controller is interesting - it seems you have cycle through 0 - 1 2 3 levels. Going up the levels not a problem - but going into 0 (off) from 3 to get to level 1 - you suddenly feel the weight of the bike and level 1 can't kick in quick enough.

Does the official Mahle MySmartBike app I linked to not funtion with the Van Rysel?

The iWOC assist level rotation is a bit annoying, pretty sure the Mahle Pulsar One gps computer allows level changes up or down, but I'm not paying ~£90 for one for a single feature at a cost of losing plenty of other features.

Yes I haven't got into tweaking via the my smart bike app yet.
