I'd love to have heard the phone call from the mayor's office to the BBC.

With Boris again telling us how safe cycling is becoming, ain't it strange that 2012 was a 5 year high for cycle deaths.

I do also recall posting on that map that was published that some reported fatalities in the North East were for some reason omitted.
So was it far far more and what went wrong with that map?

The only clear correlation I see is that the increase in accidents has come along when the clocks change and cyclists are going home in the dark. I know we are getting shorter days overall and that cannot be helped but moving the clocks when they do seems a bit pointless and brings on darker evenings prematurely.
