Sod the baps, it seems very appropriate that the reporter is called Matilda Battersby - there's a Hovis name if evver I 'eard one, aye.

Although of course everyone thinks of it a northern thing, but that hill is in Dorset....

’twas like taking bread to the top of the world! ’Twas a grand ride back though …. and afterward, I knew baker would ’ave kettle on and doorsteps of hot Hovis ready.
“There’s wholemeal in Hovis,” he’d say — “get it inside yer lass, does yer
good that — and one day you’ll go up that hill as fast as yer come down!”

Changed 'lad' to 'lass'.

Vickie P is loooaaaaddssss fitter in person! She brushed behind me when I was at machester doing my British Cycling Track Regional School of Racing, as all the sprinters were coming out to do their training session! Mighty impressive being in the riders 'D' watching them bomb it round behind the derny!

I think she's a pretty looking girl, but just that. Pretty and pleasant to the eye

I don't think she is stunning or anything special. Some folk on here seem very taken by her going by past threads. Do you think if she wasn't a cyclist they would still be creaming themselves over her???????

Bad choice of phrase.

One thing that astonishes me, reading the article, is that the original advert was made by Ridley Scott. Is that so? I think, I'll never see that advert again without visualising one of the loaves leaping out of the basket and wrapping itself around the little boy's face...;)

I was going to make the point about the choice of Dvorak's New World Symphony (more accurately, From The New World) being rather an odd choice of accompaniment for an authentic Olde Englande setting, but I think folks are on to that by now...

You also changed 'wheatgerm' to 'wholemeal'. Sign of the times, what with our present-day healthy-eating-conscious set of attitudes, huh? I suppose hovis, and what goes therein, has changed too over the years, though I wouldn't know for sure.

I'm surprised she's doing this... is it for the dough do you think?
I'm with Greedo here, she's a nice girl, but a bit skinny, she could do with a good whole meal to feed her up.
