I'm out of touch now but the Seat's used to be excellent cars. Good engines, solidly made and drove well.

Seat would be my choice too.

(My C8's been very good so far though, 4.5 years old, 80k miles and was pretty cheap to buy. Lease deals however rely on residuals so the roolz change on cost.)

My wife's S-Max is really comfy and refined. Accommodates 7 adults, but the 2 rear seats would be a bit cramped for a long journey. The 2.0 TDi engine is very smooth, nippy and quite economical considering the size of the car. The only criticism is that there's no space for a spare wheel.

Recently travelled for most of the day in a Galaxy, 6 of us and 4 of us over 6ft. The ceiling is a little lower in the 3rd row of seats, was fine for my two 6ft 2 friends but me being 6ft1-2 and of gorilla proportions there wasnt enough headroom, middle row had plenty though and front seats are very roomy. The parking sensors are pretty awesome too as the drivers position is lower and you cant see much at all back through the car, or so im told.

My friend was also impressed that the 2L diesel turbo engine was apparently pretty punchy fully laden.

My friends chryslar voyager is the bees knees. Don't know how he affords the v8 petrol !!!
I remember that car , it got a 0 in the ncap safety ratings ... and now gets a 2 after a google to find the ncap ratings .

The biggest people carrier/MPV type size you will find only seats 7 people, for 8 seats or more you need a minibus. I don't like MPV's in general but out of shear necessity I find myself owning a Galaxy. Much as I dislike them the Galaxy is a great car. I have 3 small children and it swallows up huge amounts of freight including pushchairs, grand parents, IKEA purchases and all the camping kit without needing a roof box. It is only 2 inches longer than an S-MAX but due to the box shape rather than sloping roof at the rear you can carry a huge amount along with sufficient space for adults to sit in comfort on the rear row of seats (I have sat there myself).

After an extensive search the Galaxy got my vote and 2 years later I am still happy with it, the 2.0 TDCi is surprisingly fast if you are in to that sort of thing, technically it is as fast as the Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi we had previously, obviously handles much worse and the gearbox is horrible (but works), it is quick if you do want it to move. It also reliably returns 45mpg, pretty impressive for the size.

When we no longer need the space we will re-adjust to a large estate car, but for the category the Galaxy is a tricky one to beat.
