Hi all, Happy New Year , well the '28 frame is in the paint shop , still a bit undecided over colours though , anyway , from the 1928 - early thirties what Hubs would have been the main manufacturers ? I may well get spoked wheels from CC to build me some wheels , id like to get parts from the era if possible , all shiny !!

Probaly sturmey archer K series 3 speed hubs. I have a pair of 1920's Hercules front and rear hubs for sale, they are very rusty though.

The names I most frequently see are BHC (British Hub Company), Bayliss Wiley, and Chater Lea..
An excellent resource is: http://classiclightweights.co.uk/components.html
Also look at the "readers' bikes" section there; the descriptions list most of the components. Many of the bikes listed have anachronistic parts, though.
http://threespeedhub.com/ has a collection of old catalogs that can be extremely helpful as well... though reading old catalogs always makes me wish I could put in an order. I especially like the 1938 Cyclo Gear catalog.
