A non-subtle difference than I can see in your bikes, is that they look incredibly clean; your pale blue Pro Am is immaculate !
Where did you get the other one resprayed ?
How do you find them to ride ? I've never even been on one.
I reckon that mine is a 22.5 or 23in frame; were the Pro AMs intended to be a touring bike or something a bit sportier ? As a 'concept', were they like say a Dawes Galaxy ?
Just got back to this thread......
Thanks for the kind comments. Must admit I've done almost no mileage on either , but rode many hundred / poss thousands of miles in my youth on the original one. It was my first "proper" bike, up until then it was old chrome wheeled 5 speed Raleighs (and very briefly a new "Vindec" which was horrible!) . Compared to these the Pro-Am was superb seeming to eat up the miles in comfort.
I would say it was an entry level "real" racing machine, the name being very appropriate. One of the selling points was the "parrallel geomatry" (72 degree, IIRC) frame. My frame had no mudguard eyes compared to the galaxy, which was a more relaxed tourer.
I sprayed the frame myself with spraycans after removing all the original paint. It's a little brittle compared to a "proper" job but much better suited to my budget. It's not my first spraycan job though - I also did my other '80s toy
