Anyone have it ? Is it reliable looking to cut back on
£66 a month Sky (full package given at a discount which comes to an end soon)
£46 a month BT phone line and fibre optic.

Not under anything other than a rolling contract with both companies. Watch TV on phones i pads etc. Son loves his x box and plays online with his mates. Need a trouble free internet connection to stop him from grizzling.

Virgin seem to be offering a fairly good package for £55 a month on a 12 month contract...

Yep I have the full kit and caboodle with Virgin.
2 Tivo boxes, gawd knows how many crap tv channels (though I don't have sports and movies), 200mb broadband, landline with unlimited free UK calls (which is good as Mrs Ian works from home)

Internet is very stable, hardly ever goes down or drops out.
If you get a good deal, then I would say go for it.

How much does that lot cost you? Not that I can get Virgin yet. I only live on a main road into London, obviously one of the last places to be considered for cabling (sheep will get it before me, in fact my dad can get it out in the sticks) but when VM finally do get around to it, I'll be looking to drop the £85 to Sky and £30 to EE that I pay for my current setup.

Yep.

I think the internet has had a handful of outages in years.

Tivo box is bloody slow by today's standards as are older sky boxes. Make sure you get a v6.

Eh? Although there is a cabling programme to increase reach most cables were laid around 20 years ago and little since. Virgin media is still lumbered with this massive debt from many mergers. Cable isn't 'coming to town' as the urban myth goes.

Anyone unable to get it shouldn't be hopeful unless they have seen that they are in an area to get it.

£93 per month
Though I am thinking of cutting it back, get rid of some of the channel packages and dropping the broadband speed as not really needed.

Slow in what way?
It changes channels, it records programmes and it plays it back.

Mostly the apps. Netflix app in particular is horrendous. Just the years. Like everything ntl or telewest 5 years ago it was amazing and virtually nothing would play netflix which was great at the time, now the story is very different as time has rolled by.

Menu navigation is very sluggish. The record, pause and channel change are all fine though.

Pretty much same as v+ great box when it came out and they left it a long time for an update.

If someone doesnt use apps or menu for catch up etc tivo fine. If you do then definitely recommend a v6. Hell get a v6 if you can anyway.

Haven't found the navigation to be sluggish, but then again I have nothing to compare it too.

I won't use any of the apps when I get a new tv.

I like that after the problem with android 6 phones that tv anywhere is working again. Was a shame they got rid of the phone app.

There are people that base their choice on the speed of menu navigation and channel change, I mention it as these people will be swearing at tivo, but then again they will be shouting at most PVRs .

The v6 is a very nice box so a good time to join virgin media imho.

Oh yes,
I can also watch Virgin TV channels anywhere on my phone and/or tablet. And also use my mobile phone to make free calls to landlines via my landline.

I've just switched to Virgin from BT (who stuck their prices up) and Virgin are being an utter PITA - with installation notably (the guy was 4 hours late, arrived at 6, due 10-2, couldn't sort the landline so has to come back, let's just say I was unable to bill my company for half a day as unable to work as BT killed the Broadband at 7am - I'm seeking compensation from Virgin for LoE...will be requesting 6 months free @ £25 a month - 50MB BB, landline, basic Tivo in bedroom, I have Sky, I negotiated hard with the referrals guy, only a 12 month contract too).

I got a referral from my brother, so we'll each get £50 cashback

I had BB issues with Virgin yesterday, when the engineer comes back, I'll get him to install the router in the office - which is where I would have had it, if he hadn't been 4 hours late and I was without BB!

You won't get Sky Atlantic and their channel ordering is bizarre

If not going the referrals route, you can get some cashback via Quidco if order online as a new customer

I keep hoping. I'm still waiting for fibre broadband. I live in a hundred yards of technological black hole. I can see houses with VM and BT Infinity.
