I was watching the Giro today via Steephill tv when a screen appeared claiming to be from the met police. It accused me of everything from viewing porn to being an international terrorist.
Then it asks for £100 to unblock your PC.

Unfortunately I was using my wifes work Laptop (something I dont normally do, sods law!) and it now has the virus. On the positive side the techs where she works will soon sort it out.

Don't worry. This one's been doing the rounds for a year or more now. If you're lucky you might even get the German police version! There's a fix for it somewhere on the net. If you boot-up in safe mode and then dig around for, and then remove a recently changed temp file with a .exe extension with lots of numbers (something like fp3726651342.exe) in the start-up procedure, that gets rid of it. It's quite straightforward. I managed to do it.

Oh heck ! Hope you don't get some crap back from the wife about 'other' dodgy sites. This is how my nephew wrecked the home computers - watching feeds for football and cricket.

Use cyclingfans instead.

With it being a work laptop, we are not able to access files and make changes etc. So best left for the technical guys at her work. But thanks for the advice.
