Just land with one of these at lunch time . FOC . Trusty model? Looks late 70's
Lugless frame . Forks to check!!

27x 1 1/4 wheels, Mavic rims, need to remove crap to determin hubs.
Shimano crane rear mech gear .
Early Dura Ace front changer
Has straight bars fitted.
SKS gold mudguards....must worth alot
Chainset need degunking .Its not the lambert one. 10 speed .
Weinmann cp brakes.
Saddle is much later .
Degunked C/s which is a ;SR Custom 52/42 .
GB stem and north road style alloy bars
Forks now checked ,look to be replacements ,Full chrome
Hubs appear to be Viscounts own ?
To small for me and I need another bike like a hole in the head .

Were these the things that sometimes featured something dubbed the "death fork"?

Yep the original fork did have problems and could fail . Trusty/Yamaha who took over the business ,got lumbered with the recall notice . As I understand things, free replacement forks being the order of the day.
The forks on this bike are replacement ones steel chrome not the infamous alloy type.
If nothing else I have gained some useful spares

That is way too nice for spares ride and enjoy

Unfortunately it is to small for me and the 52/42 chain rings ...yes 10 years ago ,but now😵
I am giving alot of the parts to a good friend and I have other projects that i can now finish .

I don’t think you can get too precious with a bike like this unless you’re a Viscount collector.
