vista and product key

ive been having some problems with vista but have lost all my vista disc. i can get my product key from my pc but will i be able you use my product key with a borrowed copy of vista from familey or friend

Im unsure offhand, but i think the keys are unique to the edition of vista, so you probably need to find the right version ie. home/pro 32/64bit oem/retail.

but they all come on the same DVD, the version is determined by the key.

according to this thread where the poster asked the same question then had to try it out they found that an oem key would work on full retail dvds
