I thought it looked a bit more quality than a workshop mat

Dead right , it is mid 19th century Shiraz from Persia (before it became Iran) ! lt's big 3meters by 2.15meters. and came from a village workshop rather than from an individual craftsman. This means that all the weavers in the village would have worked on it ...sort of mass production.
If it had been the work of just one person l would probably still be paying for it ....big money these days.

Here we go , it's a cold wet afternoon so how about a ray of olmo sunshine.... l've been looking for a suitable victim for the bar tape ( it really isn't quite as knicker pink as it looks )
Just got to wire up the derailleurs and she's a goer !! Oh yes and it weighs in at 9.7 Kg. just for the record
