My elemnt bolt v1 is the same. I noticed on Monday on the way to work that the time had gone to GMT, I fired up the app which corrected the time but the GPS position was not showing. The speed was erratic or not showing at all with no gps. For the commute I only use it for displaying the Varia radar and that works fine. DC rainmaker has a good piece on it as I see @Mike_P has linked above.

I’m just hoping my bolt v2 is ok for the weekend rides,it would be strange going old school with no route loaded or recorded. No problem of course just strange. Seems it’s just the oldest models.

Apparently if you hit 88mph, all will be OK. You might be in 2006, but the date will be fine.

88 - is that all I went out Sunday and hit 136.8 mph , I think this is why I lost signal , I was too quick ! did a 50mile loop and it said I did 21 mile ,pretty damn useless at the moment I hope they sort it soon

Ha!.

I have a roam V1, and thought it as a problem with my specific devcie, was going to come on here and ask if anybody else has had a smilar problem, and how to fix if they did.

Apart from the date, it will connect to satellites for a few minutes, showing apparently reasonable speeds and distances, then the speed will switch to two dashes, then after a few minutes will sometimes go back to showing correctly. The two rides I have don since it went haywire have both also refused to synch (possibly because it was in the two-dashes state when I finished).

I did record today's ride directly on my phone with Strava, but have lost yesterday's ride

[EDIT] Just realised it did synch yesterday's ride, but of course for Jan 2006. It is even there on Strava, wit just the last bit missing.

I’ve had a response from wahoo tech saying what we already know , it’s a bug for older units and they are working on a fix

This morning's email...

Dear Pete,

We sincerely apologize for the recent inconvenience experienced with first-generation ELEMNT, BOLT, and ROAM bike computers.

Our team has identified the root cause of the issue, which is linked to the way these older devices track GPS time using a limited 10-bit system. We’ve been working around the clock on a firmware update to restore full functionality, allowing you to continue enjoying your rides with confidence.

Given the age of these devices and the upgrades we’ve made across our product platform since their release, we are thoroughly testing the update to ensure it performs smoothly. We expect to make it available to users soon.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. For the latest updates, please check this webpage, which we will continue to keep current.

Sincerely,

The Wahoo Team

Oddly, in spite of no firmware update, it ran perfectly normally on my commute in to work this morning. And recorded it with the correct date.

Firmware is showing as WR20-17055, which as far as I can see was released in June.

i Think you probably got lucky….as soon as the fix is released i am pretty sure we would all know because of the worldwide effect.
