I spoke to my insurers about a public liability claim made against me, she originally wanted a weeks wages from me for a tiny cut which was self inflicted. I was going to pay her just to keep it simple but thought I should give it to the insurers, they fecked her around so she went no win-no fee they ended up paying out near on 9k, mostly fees I guess. When I challenged them they said anything under 50k not worth the risk the huge costs of defending it in court and the possibly losing if I wanted to fight anything in the future I would need to take the hit on the other parties fees should I lose which can quickly escalate. It could be at least a year, you will be required to see an independent doctor and your companies' insurer will fight it. Also don't expect to get a promotion ever.
Sorry to be negative, but unless you are left with perminent damage just asking your employer to help cover any expenses or losses caused by the injury may be a better route imho.

You didn't say the claim was against a third party. This is Heathrow airport we're talking about; it's where I work but they're not my employer, so no black mark against me.
As it's probably going to be under £25,000 the airport has 40 days to deny liability (which they haven't done).
Therefore the only question is how much I get. Win win!
Incidence to payout was under 5 weeks. Have sensible targets and settle....is so tedious!
I had an accident at work back in June and I'm hunting for compensation. I'm hoping to get enough for a decent bicycle but tbh I've no idea.
Wish my ambulance-chasers would get a move on!
Ooops I didn't realise this was one of our trollsObvious troll thread.
Nothing better to do?

I entered a stairwell in brilliant sunshine, and ran upstairs. The door shut behind me and the light didn't come on; I carefully walked back downstairs in pitch darkness, holding the handrail, but I missed the bottom step and twisted my knee.
I'm not a troll.
Isn't that just an accident?

Did they know about the failed lighting system or had it just failed? If the former then they may be liable but if the latter I fail to see how they are at fault.A pitch-dark stairwell is a disaster waiting to happen. The airport have a duty of care to provide a safe environment...
