Just wondering if anyone has one of the more basic kindles with buttons at the sides for page turns. OH has decided he'd quite like a Kindle for use on holiday, but the only ones you can buy new now are touch-screen ones and he doesn't fancy those.
So if you've got one of the older ones gathering dust somewhere and want to get rid of it...

(All this is assuming you can reregister the thing - I'm only after the hardware, not someone else's content.)

The new paperwhite screen quality is a massive improvement on the old. If the only issue is the page turn then it's sacrificing a big difference in quality for the location of a button.

I've got one of the button ones myself, and don't see the need for any higher quality when I'm only reading text. I don't use it for anything else.

Will see if my Fiancée still has her old kindle. She had the one with the keyboard I think but got a newer one last year which she uses for everything now so old one is either lost, in the bin or gathering dust....

Reminds me of the BT big button telephone.

It was produced for the sight impaired, but sold in huge numbers.

Market research found many of the sales were to those with normal sight, they just liked a simple telephone with big, clear buttons.

Good luck with your search.

Dunno. The size of the 'button' on the screen is massively bigger than the bit of plastic in the side.

But I can hold the thing in one hand and just need to twitch my thumb to turn the page, I don't need to move a finger over the screen I'm reading from.
But I suppose you get used to whatever version you have quite quickly.

Fair enough. I read lots of non fiction that often has images. It's much clearer.
