Warm showers

Anyone know of a way of importing the list of warmshowers.org hosts onto google earth? Something not too techie would be great.

You can visit the list page (http://www.warmshowers.org/member_list) and download as a CSV file, which has the lat and lon for each member. Several members have massaged this to meet their needs just as you're describing.

I can open the spreadsheet, but then reach an abrupt halt. Massaging is beyond me.

Perhaps I'll just flick between Google Earth and Warmshowers browsers to narrow down the choice of victims hosts.

Have you tried uploading your CSV to Fusion Tables? Fusion Tables will display your CSV data on a Google Map. To create a new Fusion Table:

1. Go to docs.google.com.
2. Select Create > Tables.
3. Follow the steps to import the CSV.
4. When the data has been imported, select Visualize > Map, and you will see your data on a Google Map.
5. The map can be embedded, or you can use the Fusion Tables Layer in the Maps API, to display your map on a website.

If the CSV is constantly changing, you can use the Fusion Tables API to update the data in the table.

Thanks, although the Fusion Tables solution just "hangs" whilst loading, and as for the second article, well, you over-estimate my capabilities..

I'll do it the oldish fashioned way.
